Endurance Cycle Raises Nearly £4,000 for the NSPPC

Staff at Slee Blackwell Solicitors who took part in a 24 hour cycle event for the NSPCC are celebrating raising £3,800.

28 members of staff at two different office locations pedalled continuously on stationery exercise bikes from noon on 30 November until the same time the following day. The teams cycled a total of 715 miles. Generous donors were entered into a free prize draw, with prizes including pantomime tickets, vouchers for hair treatments and tickets to sports events.

Elizabeth Duncan, Chartered Legal Executive at Slee Blackwell Solicitors, said:

“I am part of the specialist abuse team here at Slee Blackwell. We deal with claims in relation to abuse, including historical claims in relation to child sexual abuse. However by the time we become involved the damage has already been done and it is this aim of the NSPCC to prevent abuse from happening in the first place that we feel very passionately about.

Overnight the cycling was pretty tough. There were five of us who stayed all night and we went through a real rollercoaster of tiredness and hilarity and back again.

I think we are mostly recovered now, although we all agree it will be a while before we can face getting back on a bike again!”

Anna Keir, an NSPCC fundraising manager, said:

“The NSPCC relies on fundraising events to carry on our work protecting children, be it through our helplines or schools programmes.

I’d like to thank Slee Blackwell and all the cyclists for their generous support, as well as everyone who has donated. The money helps the NSPCC continue our fight for every childhood.”
