Slee Blackwell abuse lawyer, Liz Duncan, appeared on ITV national news on Monday 28 November.

She was asked to comment upon sex abuse in football and sport.

Liz told ITV News that sex abuse is a problem in all sports, not just football. She explained that sport gives abusers the perfect opportunity to prey on vulnerable children. The relationship between a coach and athlete is open to abuse, particularly at an elite level, because of the imbalance of power and the athlete’s dependency on their coach to fulfill their sporting dreams.

We are dealing with a number of abuse cases involving sport, including gymnastics and swimming.
